About Us
Our Story
Mayalu means “sweetheart.” The name is close to my heart. It brings together Maya, my mother’s name, and Lulu, my nickname for my daughter. Two people I love, brought together in one name.
My roots are in Nepal, but I've called different countries and cities home over the years. Along the way, I've collected memories, met wonderful people, and discovered flavors and traditions that have stayed with me.
Mayalu Coffee is a little piece of that journey. From the Chicken Momo I grew up with to the coffee we serve and the events we bring to life, there's a bit of my family and my story in everything we do.
Whether you're stopping in for coffee, trying our chiya for the first time, or joining us for an event, I hope you'll come by and make a few memories of your own.
Beyond the Café
The conversations continue beyond our tables. Through the DSM Tea Festival and Southside Sunday Market, we bring people together to discover new flavors, meet local makers, and enjoy a day out.
At the café or at an event, the welcome is the same: come as you are and make yourself at home.
